Gold Award Inspiring I.A.G.

Alder Community High School are celebrating their success at being the first school in Tameside to achieve the Gold Award Inspiring I.A.G.

Code of Practice

This is a quality award written by Connexions services across Greater Manchester which focuses on Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG). The award is completed in three stages: Bronze, Silver and Gold and involves self assessment, moderation and external assessment processes and organisations must be able to provide evidence against a set of key criteria.

Alder commenced the award in February 2010 and soon after achieved the Bronze Award. In July they achieved the Silver award and finally reached the Gold standard in March 2011.

This was then reaccredited in January 2014!!

This is a fantastic accolade for the school and its students and one they are very proud of!

The school are committed to providing excellent CEIAG and the award gave them an opportunity to recognise and improve on their existing excellent practise. Part of the award involved working towards an agreed action plan between Alder and their designated mentor. Alder's action plan included the development of CEIAG space on their website, a parents newsletter including Labour Market Information and they delivered group work to pupils in lower years to help them become engaged in careers education and in making future plans.

The Gold Award was achieved in school by the PSHE department, who are passionate about the quality of CEIAG in school. However IAG is at the heart of the curriculum at Alder and this award could not have been achieved without all staff support, including senior managers, in what is very much a whole school approach.
