Have you ever seen Dragons’ Den on television? If so, you’ll know just how challenging it can be, getting someone to invest in a new business. Well, Alder’s Year 10 Business students can probably teach some of the hopeful entrepreneurs a thing or two – this week they pitched for investment in front of a team of senior business leaders at Manchester Airport as competitors in the Airport’s annual Dragons’ Den competition for schools. The students have come up with the idea of creating a decorative reindeer gift set which can be customised by changing the colour of the antlers.

The Dragons were blown away with the students’ proposal and presentation, telling them that it was the most business-like and professional presentation they had seen this year. As a result, they immediately invested the full amount of £100 to allow the students to get the business up and running. All profit made from sales will be donated to our chosen charity, the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital, so watch out for the students selling their product all around Hyde between now and December!
