Unfortunately, due to the predicted significant increase in the indoor temperature in some areas of school, we have made the decision to close school at 12:15pm tomorrow (Friday 10th July). We have worked with our Facilities Management Company to put in as many environmental adjustments as are feasible but have ultimately made this decision to ensure the safety and wellbeing of students and staff.
Food Arrangements:
Brunch will be served as usual in the morning. Students who are entitled to free school meals should purchase their main meal at brunch time.
Transport Arrangements:
The 871 school bus (Hattersley via Hyde and Godley) will be collecting at the earlier finish time of 12.15pm. We are still waiting for confirmation whether the 868 school bus (Hattersley) will be available.
Afternoon Education:
As this is a planned closure, we will be providing work for students to complete during the afternoon. Students in Years 7, 8 and 9 can complete Sparx maths, Sparx Reader or Educake Science. Students in Year 10 can complete Sparx Maths or independent learning linked to their option subjects using their own books and their Knowledge Organisers to support.
More information and support to access this work can be found here
Year 10 Students on the Blackpool Trip:
The arrangements for the Blackpool trip will continue as originally planned.
Arrangements for Monday:
School will reopen as normal on Monday 13th July. We will review the weather over the weekend and communicate on Sunday (via Class Charts/Website) regarding uniform adjustments as appropriate.
We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
